Hello my name is John Munnelly, along with my father, John Munnelly Sr., we run Surf’s Up Seafood in Avon, North Carolina. We purchased the market in 2002 from the original owners and have been serving the Southern Outer Banks ever since.
We have protective refrigerated show cases that keep the seafood cold (below 42 degrees) and stop air borne illnesses and human contamination. Surf’s Up carries a wide variety of fresh fish, crab legs, oysters, clams, shrimp, crab cakes, scallops, and blue crabs by the dozen up to the bushel. We also prepare seafood and will steam and spice your shrimp, clams, crab legs, and blue crabs to perfection. Surf’s Up is a family run market, which takes pride in bringing the freshest seafood from our local waters. We also make homemade crab cakes (A secret family recipe), that are known up and down Hatteras Island for their flavor and abundance of crab meat. We are a fully stocked market that carries all your seafood needs, marinades, sushi products, cocktail sauces, and of course our famous "We Kill ‘em All" tee shirts. Surf’s Up is also the creator of the Hatteras Clam Bake. It’s the perfect meal in a can. Just take it home, add one beer, glass of wine, or cup of water, set it on the stove to cook, and in 20 minutes you have a wonderful seafood dinner! If there’s something you need, and we don't carry it regularly, we can always special order or for you. From 1-5 pound lobsters to live crawl fish, we can carry it all.
